Install OSX 10.5.6 on a Dell Vostro 410

Monday, February 9th, 2009

If you missed out on the last p0wnz deal it looks like this deal from Dell is now bye bye see ya later gone. Sorry if you didn’t take advantage of this because I got a 99.8% fully functional Mac Pro Hackintosh. You can check out the specs below My preferred method for installing this was with the use of iPC 10.5.6 beta. When first attempting to install this I had tried various install combinations but could not get it to boot. All I would get is an apple logo for approx two and a half minutes and then a circle with a line threw it or a don’t symbol (similar to a no smoking symbol). There was no work around for that. I had to use a different install disk to get it up and running. I chose to use Kalyway 10.5.1 which worked flawlessly with Vanilla kernel applied. However I was not satisfied with 10.5.1 because I wanted to take advantage of all the new features. I then by chance happen to see that iPC had two new update patches PPF4 and PPF5. So I reapplied this to the iso files and re burned it. Upon installing I used the following settings. Audio ACL888 drivers, No video drivers selected, ICH9/10 HDD patch, DSDT SMBIOS patch selected and that is all. Everything else can be done after installation.
