Recently I found myself in need of sending faxes but required a better way then the plain old fax machine. So I went on a search for a reliable software counterpart. I wasn’t having much luck most were expensive and used there convenience factor to lure people in.

Since I’m a Skype user I thought I would give Pamfax a try and have it come out of my Skype minutes. Pamfax is an add on program that works with skype to send faxes over the internet. It has a nice interface and works well, however something still bugged me about it. Maybe the fact that I couldn’t just send a fax with out purchasing a license from them first turned me off.

Then I remembered vbuzzer a program I kinda had my eye on but lost interest somewhere down the road. I went back to vbuzzer to see what was new and a lot has changed. Faxing from the US and Canada is free China too.

You wont even need the software client to send the fax they allow you to do it right from their website. After some more poking around on their site I noticed they support SIP (Session Initiated Protocol) get one of their unlimited plans and you should be set. They also allow communication with contacts from AIM, Yahoo and MSN. Now I know as much as the next guy that nothing stays free forever so why not take advantage of this fax thing while you can. Looks as though Skype has some competitors who are seriously looking to take over.
