Well. I do have a way to install osx 10.6 but the method is rather unorthodox. I created a post here for this very thing.

Hey i was wondering if you guys who said u were going to put up a detailed installation guide for installing osx 10.5.7 actually did it and if so where can i find. then a guide to upgrading to snow leopard. but i still just need to get osx installed first, i keep installing everything then when im done it restarts and boots and stays on the apple logo screen, help please i am using iastkos 10.5.7

I have also been in the works for making a guide. But its pretty much the same as before. Minus a few hiccups. Did you encounter any serious problems tagavor?

Not sure if anyone is reading this post anymore or not, but I have successfully installed and am running 10.6.1 on my vostro 410. I will post a concise guide in a few days here once I make sure its actually stable.

Update– ALC888Legacy allows for headphones, sorry I didn’t read the comments.

At any rate, who is interested in trying to get 10.6 working? I believe the main problem is (at least for me, my 410 has ICH9R) getting sata support to work properly. Netkas created a supposed fix, but it didn’t work for all of us vostro and xps 410 users. Check out the post here: http://netkas.org/?p=125

Hey this 99% worked for me, but my headphone jack on the front doesn’t do anything. I plug it in and sound keeps chugging along on the speakers. On the iPC install I selected ALC888, has anyone gotten headphones working?

Also, has anyone tried installing 10.6 yet? I spent all day today trying. I got it installed using mostly dsdt from my current 10.5.6 install but got kp on bootup.
