Windows Live Works Again!!!

Here is a fix for Windows Live Mail. If you have been having a hard time getting this to load I feel your pain. So I have been working my brains out trying to get this product to work on my computer. Previously I posted some one else’s solution and although it works its not the easiest thing to do. So I was looking for an easier solution for someone who may not be comfortable using the “regedit” command.

1. Use the official windows live download program WLinstaller.

2. Once Windows Live Mail is downloaded and installed go and browse to your Program Files\Common Files\WindowsLiveInstaller\MsiSources *Note you wont be able to even see this folder unless you unhide system protected files. So just go under your control panel browse to folder options and uncheck that so we can continue.

3. Now that you have browsed to that folder you should see a .MSI file with a pretty long file name it will be about 12.4MB. That was the size of mine it could be a big larger. You can copy this file to your desktop or somewhere else because we are going to work on it now.

4. Download Universal Extractor and go ahead and install it. Its like Winzip except it extracts everything and its free.

5. Point Universal Extractor to your MSI. Universal Extractor should have done its thing and left you with a folder with the same name as your MSI file.

6. Browse inside to a folder called “SDKComponents” and copy a file called msidcrl40.dll. Paste it in the folder called “Mail”.

To test it execute the file named “wlmail” ITS ALIVE ITS ALIVE.
**Note to clean this up a little bit I would just drag the Windows Live folder to your Program Files folder and create a shortcut from the wlmail file
