The iphone pwnage tool has been out for sometime now while many users report that it does just that, pwnz an iphone. Now that the new 2.0 apple software has been officially released the iphone dev team report that they have indeed unlocked and jailbroken this new firmware. This has yet to be confirmed, however when they say they have done something its normally true. The Dev team has been unlocking and installing older builds of the 2.0 firmware for sometime now.

The pwnage tool is a tool that will allow you to install any firmware on your iphone and completely customize it, even the apple intro logo can be changed. What can apple do to stop this, apparently not much can be done right now if this is true. PWNage tool is primarily for mac users but a windows command line version called xpwn and a gui version called winpwn have been made available. Still a work in progress but you should definitely wait for an official word from the iphone dev team before trying anything on your iphone with the new software. The one thing that confuses me is I thought this tool was suppose to support future firmwares? Please note do not try this. The video was from a beta firmware which it just to show you that it was done on older builds. We have to wait for the dev team to confirm their methods before anyone can try it.

***Update*** It didnt take long but the official iphone dev guys have shown us in a video how they used the pwnage tool to update their iphone.
