You would think sony would get it by now that it would need to keep up with the times and correct things which were wrong with the original PSP. Why o why in the world would they not make the PSP go touch screen. I mean you still have to peck at a virtual keypad to type. Why not move into the next gen like everyone else has guys. I like the idea of a smaller more casual version of the PSP, but Sony if you truly wish to capitalize now would have been the time. If this system came out with a touch screen it would have murdered both the iphone/ipod and Nintendo DS. Too late now Sony but maybe next time or version (Stop wasting peoples money).

Sony is back with a new handheld system which is really there old handheld system redesigned. They will call it the PSP Sidekick I mean the PSP Go and will officially reveal it at e3 this June. Of course nothing is ever revealed when it is suppose to be thanks to the internet. But maybe this was the plan to gain some hype in the hype machine before e3. Is this system a go or a no go. I for one think its very sleek and sexy but the analog still looks to be a problem once again, I mean they should just get rid of it. Come on do you see how close that thing is to the buttons. You would have to play all deformed to make use of that analog, they should just save some more space and rid us all of the half attempted analog nub. I see many PSP go’s on the floor because It wont looks like people wont be able to keep a good grip on the thing when using the analog nub. This is just me ranting I am still very anxious to get my hand on one and play around with it.

As I have stated on a previous post the psp desperately needs a new method for typing. Simply because the current method sucks horribly. l0rdnic0 from psp dev has come up with a way to take the Xbox 360 chat pad and some how through the grace of God got it to work on a PSP. With a custom flashed chatpad and a modified version of piKey he was able to achieve this cool hack. His work has been uploaded, check out the video proof which I linked above. I feel sony should take a gander at this and think; maybe in their next console they can make a better keyboard so people wont feel the need to make there own.

Take a look at this video of what looks like crash nitro kart for the iPhone. The graphics are way better then the DS and comparable to the PSP. Seems like apple unintentionally is now in the gaming market. Imagine a brain age port for the iPhone. You could practically port Nintendo DS games and remake them for the iPhone and it would most likely be better. I always thought two screens was a gimmick but touch games I hold in high regard. If apple can keep this up maybe then can officially jump into the gaming business.

Just a day after 4.01 M33 was released Dark Alex does it again releasing an update to his custom firmware for the psp. This update was very easy to do if your already on a custom firmware. All you do is make a folder called UPDATE and place it in your GAME folder on your memory stick. In this folder you place the official 4.01 update file but you rename it to 401.PBP. Then it uses the official sony updater software to get on you 4.01 M33. Once your on the latest firmware then you can grab the 4.01 M33-2 and update it the same way, place it in your update folder on your memory stick and run the updater. Note that if your running homebrew on 4XX kernel you need to rename your folder to GAME4XX respectively. This will help you out so you don’t have to keep renaming your folders every time a new firmware is released. After it was stated that 1.50 firmware kernel would no longer be used, Dark Alex does just that and also adds 1.50 firmware kernel. If you wish to install this add on place it in under your GAME4XX folder on your memory stick. Then grab the official sony 1.50 firmware rename it to 150.PBP and place it on the root of your memory stick then you can run the addon. So if you were reluctant on upgrading this shouldnt stop you since now everything should now run fine.

Update After running some tests it looks as though wifi might not be functioning correctly. I have one PSP with 3.90 M33-3 and another just updated to 4.01 M33-2 and when trying to communicate to play wifi it is very iffy. They use to work fine when they were both on 3.90 M33. Emulators that use to work on wifi no longer work and Space Invaders Extreme also does not work correctly. It states that you should check the wifi switch even though its switched in the proper place. Please confirm with me if anyone else is having this issue after updating.

Update 2 I needed to run macfixer because i had switched motherboard that was totally my bad wifi working correctly and all working thanks darkalex for another piece of gold.

Well it was bound to happen I flashed a PSP and it went bad. I should have made a backup of the flash0 but for some reason I didn’t do it and now I’m stuck with a partially functional PSP. So what is todays lesson always make a back up of what your working on. Especially if it is something important. It doesn’t matter if its a word document or flashing the bios on your computer make a backup somehow so you can at least have a chance to restore in the event of a catastrophe. In my case its just another lesson learned. So maybe I can use this as an excuse to get a PSP Slim, maybe I can break that too lol.

Its back again and better then ever if you loved shooting these strange looking aliens then you will still love shooting them now. Back in the day all the aliens would do was stay in a line and when you were about to shoot the last few they would get very quick. Well now they do not stay in a straight line waiting to be shot at they move around. They have become smarter and harder to kill. Some of them make kamikaze moves to take you out faster. I know it sounds like they made them too smart and in tern made a fun game frustrating. Well its the opposite, its difficultly is what makes this game fun. Don’t worry now you get all sorts of new moves and power ups to combat the aliens such as bombs, lasers, spreadgun, and shields. Not like how the shields used to be a barrier to hide behind the shields now forms over you not slowing down the action. Now I am going to have to eat my words I stated that the DS version would not be as good as the PSP. Well it just might be better it all depends on what type of gamer you are. If you would rather have a prettier looking more polished version get the psp one. If you don’t mind it not looking as good and would rather have more gameplay modes and multiplayer modes then get the ds version. There is also a bit of strategy involved you can hold on to a power up by holding the right trigger giving you more time to use it on the next swarm. So what is my final verdict you should pick this up with no questions asked its fun and tell a friend to pick one up also. But the DS has game sharing so they can play you with out it, but they will want their own.

Face it if your anything like me you have a lot of electronic devices. Some of which require a memory card of some sort to save data. Maybe you shelled out some money to have a card for each device and it cost quite a bit. If your tired of really expensive sony memory stick prices I might have a cheap inexpensive alternative. When you look at an SD card and a Memory stick side by side you can see they are almost identical with only a slightly modified appearance. Now if only there was some way to use the cheaper SD brand memory on your sony products. Well now there is such a way with a Mirco SD to Memory stick pro adapter. Its simple when you think about it and it makes you wonder why didn’t they think of this sooner. We have had Micro SD to SD for sometime now and now we have this here. I ordered this from them not really expecting much but was too curious to try it out. I had lying around a 4GB HDSC and a 2GB micro SD I tested the 4GB and it would not read I thought it was broken or didn’t work correctly. Thats because this converter card does not support the newer density sd cards. Then I tried the 2GB and it works perfectly like a charm I was able to use it on my camera and my PSP.

Yeah I know this is actually pretty old news but since 3.95GEN is out many people need to know how to get on a M33 firmware so here is a start because you need to be on atleast 3.71 M33 to install the new 3.95 GEN. I’m actually going to wait till maybe some add on is released for this firmware before I actually jump on the bandwagon. I don’t see any reason right now for me to upgrade since nothing that new as been introduced. There is an HD link of the video if you have problems looking at it or it seems blurry.

If you have been wondering why you cannot connect your psp as usb type b I might have your solution here. If you have downgraded your psp using older downgraders and not the pandora method you most likely have corrupted keys. The keys became all scrambled on TA-82/86 motherboards back when these downgraders first came about. As ingenious as this method was it ended up leaving things a little unfinished. Some of these keys are responsible for correctly recognizing your device as a psp when you hook it up to your computer. I struggled for quite a long time to find a reasonable solution but it seems that most people don’t care. If you google’d this you might have thought this was a vista issue but it is not. Allow me try and assist you the best way that I can. This will not work on slim

What you will need
1. Some knowledge of hexediting because if you mess up things could go potentially wrong on so many levels.

2. XVI32 Hexeditor here is a free one

3. Keycleaner 1.4 this will be installed on your psp

4. IDstoragemanager 1.3 this will be installed on your psp

**Disclaimer I am not responsible for any mistakes or damage done to you psp please follow carefully** Ok lets begin. Place Keycleaner where you normally place homebrew on your psp and run it. You will be asked what type of motherboard your psp has. It shows you how to recognize the different types. As a precaution dump your keys first then analyze and verify next. Make sure you have the keys dumped. Verify the keys and allow it to fix what it can. It will most likely not be able to fix 0×0041 and this is the file that will need to be replaced/edited.

Now lets hook up the psp and checked where you dumped your keys. It will be in a key folder on your keycleaner folder. Lets take the 0×0041.bin file and place it on your computer for hexediting. Open up your hex editor and open this file in it. Now you have to match these values exactly or this will not work. Also there is alot of room for errors maybe you can have a friend help you read them off.

Once you have made sure you entered all values perfectly save your file. Now place idstorage manager on your psp where you normally add homebrew. Also make a folder called keys and place your new 0×0041.bin inside. Run idstorage manager and have it verify keys it will notice it does not match your original and ask you to flash it by pressing x. You can go ahead and do so.

Now run keycleaner one more time just to test and see if it gives you anymore errors. You should be golden about now.

If hexediting is not your thing. ask to borrow a friends psp whom psp you know has good keys and use keycleaner to dump that persons keys, take them off that psp and put them on your psp with idstoragemanager. A lot simpler this way but i didnt know anyone who could lend me their psp so I was out of luck. Please leave questions in comments. If it were legal I would just post the bin file for download. But please be cautious flashing keys from another PSP could render your PSP useless or partially functional. Only flash certain files such as key 41 and 43 because the are universal. If you were you flash files that are specific for one PSP on another you will cause irreversible damage. Keycleaner will only fix certain keys and not keys which are independent to that PSP.
