On the eve of official first party applications for the iphone approaching I thought it would be nice to take a look back a retrospective if you will at all the third party jailbroken applications. Why would I do this, well hopefully developers wont forget what the scene actually wants on their phones. The iphone scene is an intelligent community and hopefully devs will learn from us and develop things we will actually want to use. So on that note lets round up some of the more useful third party jailbroken iphone applications. These would be apps that prove to be the most functional. (more…)

octagon

If you were watching the season finale of lost season 4 you probably know they like to throw in the occasional fake commercial this season being no different. And nothing was more strange then http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com octagon being the shape of the dharma symbol. I decided to check it out from my phone while still watching the show. I have yet to see this site because as of now it is being hammered with request and is most likely too busy. This should keep lost enthusiast such as my self busy till the next season begins. Happy clue hunting and theorizing. (more…)

lifenotsolocked

Lifelock a service that is suppose to secure your social security number from identity theft. Well recently founder Todd Davis who has been plastered on trucks and billboards proudly displaying his real social security number has had himself become a victim of identity theft. His bold approach made it seem as though his service was impenetrable and dared people to try and steal his identity. Well PWND, OWND is what happened to him. This has members crying outrage that if it can happen to him it can definitely happen to them. Now lifelock is in a bit of trouble from all the law suits stating lifelock cannot meet its goal to keep people safe.

vimeo

I often praised Vimeo an online video streaming site for its high quality of video and its superb community. When they introduced Hi Def I knew they was serious about how people watch video on the web. This was something that competitor youtube just realized and created higher quality video, but still inferior to Vimeo. Vimeo also gives an allotment of 500mb a week which is something that baffles me on how they can sustain. It appears as thought they might be reaching there threshold. Whats been up with Vimeo lately. For the past two or three weeks now I have been experiencing nothing but slow uploads and slower conversion times. I hope they still have the ability to maintain the current amount of users and also support the continuing new user sign ups. But when you have apparent difficulties with your service that is when people begin to switch. I personally am going to hang in there and hope this gets cleared up soon because I love this site for it quality and artistic community. However those with lower patients would give in to another video community like viddler or youtube.

Take a look at some of these conversion times and see if you could put up with them. (more…)

mp3tag

When itunes first introduced cover flow it dawned upon me that my music collection could use some serious help. I realized names to albums were completely wrong as well as the track names. itunes could not recognize it and therefore no pretty album art to scroll through. So I went on a hunt to clean up my music collection but could not find what I needed. Most of the programs that were any good I would have needed to spring a few bucks to pick it up. (more…)
