ISO

If you find your self in a situation where your hard drives are not as fast as they used to be and that defragging takes alot longer then it used to this might come in handy. If you store alot of music or have tons of program setup files on your computer you can save space by turning it into one file, yes one file. I had a setup folder for Microsoft Office 2007 there were literally thousands of files in that folder and created clutter like crazy. I used Ultra ISO to turn that folder with all those files into one nice big file. Now I know what your thinking since its in a .iso format how can I access it when I need it. You will be able to easily access those file with the use of virtual cd drives. I will simply mount the iso and you will be able to use it as you would with any drive on your computer. When I assembled all the files I wanted as an iso things were easier to locate and created less clutter on my drives.

Here are programs you can look at to get stated. (more…)

Oprah Winfrey uses skype

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Oprah will be utilizing the conferencing capabilities of Skype for her “A New Earth” show. Where people can sign on and connect using Skype and be broadcast live on her show. What I also noticed is that it is extremely clear. So obviously they are utilizing the latest Logitech web cameras that support the higher resolutions. Once your on you can interact with Oprah as if you were in her studio. This seems like the future of television where people can be on television with out leaving their homes. Now the Oprah show can also can save money on hotel expenses and transportation. No need to fly someone all the way to Chicago for a 4 minute segment.

Iron Man Exclusive Gameplay Video

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

Here is 12 minutes of Iron Man wrecking havoc like he’s suppose to be doing. I wont say much just let you enjoy the video if you haven’t already downloaded the demo for XBOX 360 or PSN. This sort of reminds me of Hulk Ultimate Destruction in the fact that you can totally destroy things and really mess up things for the bad guys. Its looking like a whole lot of fun cant wait to get this when it officially comes out.

Aiptek A-HD+ Camera Review Supplemental

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

So I decided I would bring my camera along with me to snitch bar which is located on west 21st street in Manhattan and outdoors in my neighborhood. It would be a good way for me to test some of the environments that work best with this camera. Testing whether or not indoors and lighting would greatly effect the image quality. Don’t forget to click on full so you can see how it looks in its full resolution. (more…)

Aiptek

Have you ever heard the term you get what you pay for. Well in the case of the Aiptek A-HD+ its not what your probably thinking. What you get is a very affordable HD camcorder which is capable of capturing 1080P at 30fps as well as 720P at 60fps. It has a smart user interface
interface
, with simple navigation controls. Which looks similar to sony’s XMB. You can pretty much pick it up and start using it, you might also want to pick up a large memory card for this thing because the internal memory 90MB Nand is pretty much for you to just get a feel of how things work. It supports up to 32GB SDHD so memory shouldn’t be a problem. Has a place for a tripod on the bottom also. Don’t expect to go make a Cloverfield remake with this camera its not professional and has its cons. (more…)

Vimeo HD settings for the poor man

Super Settings

If you don’t have a fancy program like iMovie you can still get good looking HD videos on vimeo. I have two programs that I use for encoding one is Super by eRightSoft and the other is XVID4PSP by Winnydows. XVID4PSP is a great program but I could not get the desired quality from this program I ended up going with a more simpler approach. Sometime simpler is better and in my case it was. Super is such an easy program it has everything you need to configure in just a few steps. In just a few clicks I was ready to encode an HD video file so I can upload it to vimeo. This was helpful for me because my computer is not that powerful and can not play HD Raw directly from my camera with out encoding it. Plus vimeo wont accept 1080p so I have no choice but to re-encode. Did I mention that both of these programs are absolutely free of charge. If you have the time you should definitely check them out. Above I also have my settings for you to copy and of course tweak to your liking. Happy Encoding.

Linux for regular people: Part II

Compiz Desktop

Compiz and Berl have come along way with innovative ways to enhance the everyday desktop. They both eventually merged to become Compiz-fusion and are continuing working on the project. One would think something this creative would have taken place on the juggernaut which is Windows with their new operating system Vista. Windows Vista’s Aero provides a nice 3D flip feature which looks cool but doesn’t quite add the usability and functionality we might have hoped for. As far as the futuristic visual eye candy is concerned thats pretty much all the new windows has to offer. Mac users are no stranger to getting the latest visuals from their operating system. From the creation of widgets or expose and with the all new time machine included in leopard, it has the right amount of aesthetic goodness and usability. The mixture of functionality and futuristic visuals is what you would expect from a new operating system. But who would have thought you would ever see it on a linux machine. (more…)

IGN fixes streaming video finally

IGN Streaming Video

For years friends and I have been complaining about how terrible streaming video content from IGN’s website can be. Even after youtube shows up with its flash video and fast streaming IGN lagged behind. Any time I needed to see a game review I would go to gametrailers.com. I could easily stream HD content from gamtrailers. I almost gave up. Until I checked out their website recently. They have a slick new video interface with playlists on the right. Videos stream as fast as they would on youtube or vimeo. It is now worth it to try out.
